Ubuntu and new kernel

Hmm, to get my orinoco card in monitor mode working (well, I need this to get sure, why the xbox is not working, not for wardriving), I have had to recompile a new kernel with the patches according to KismetWireless.net. Ubuntu is pretty similar to debian, so I have had some experience in compiling kernels. But still I forgot to do a initrd kind of kernel, and the first reboot did not succeed, because the root filesystem could not be found, because I loaded most of the stuff (if not all) as a module. My new kernel is pretty much based on the Ubuntu standard config and therefor I need now to compile a initrd kernel. Now pretty much much everything works nicely. Fortunately even XBox is now running, without any modifications. Very strange, but nice 🙂
